In 1992, a small group of McLaren Vale growers decided to join forces. With a shared passion, they saw value in selling their grapes as a collective rather than individually. And so, Winegrapes Australia was established – a collective dedicated to marketing and selling their grapes.
Now, more than 20 years later, the business has grown to include a large number of growers from across South Australia, with an expanded offering of both grape varieties and bulk wine. Wholly owned by growers, Winegrapes is dedicated to producing some of Australia’s finest grapes, and now, exceptional wines tailor made to your requirements.
Paula graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science in natural resource management from Roseworthy Agricultural College followed by a Graduate Diploma in wine majoring in viticulture from Adelaide University. With more than 30 years’ experience, Paula has worked in many of Australia’s renowned wine regions including Clare Valley, McLaren Vale, Adelaide Hills, Coonawarra, and more. An experienced viticulturist with a deep understanding of grape and wine production on both large and small scale, Paula’s experience extends to marketing of grapes and wine, production logistics, and possesses an extensive network of industry contacts.
With around 25 years’ experience in the wine industry both as a winemaker and managing vineyards, Marnie brings a range of skills and contacts across many regions to the business. Having worked vintages in large, bulk wine producing wineries and also, small, premium brand wineries around the world, her style of winemaking gives absolute respect to the variety and the site from which it comes.
With over 22 years’ industry experience, Andrew joined the team in 2005. Possessing extensive knowledge of technical viticulture, and with experience as a grower liaison officer, Andrew is able to interpret a winemaker’s request for grapes and match it not only with the right parcel of fruit, but also with the right grower. Andrew has spent extensive time in all major South Australian regions and is now based in McLaren Vale, responsible for sales in the McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek and Limestone Coast regions.
Matt comes to Winegrapes after working for 5 years for Carlton & United Breweries (CUB) as a Key Account Manager for SA & NT where he worked with some of Australia’s leading Beer, Cider and Spirit Brands. before this Matt spent 5 years as the General Manager, running the family winery Whistler Wines located in the Barossa. Matt continues to live on a small vineyard in the Barossa with his wife and three daughters. His experience across corporate and small family run businesses gives him a strong understanding of what is required to run and own a business and vineyard, and creating and maintaining relationships with other industry businesses.
A chartered accountant, with strong finance and corporate governance skills, Grant has been in the wine industry for more years than he can care to remember. He joined the Winegrapes team in May 2015 having previously been based in the Clare Valley. While there he was involved in the establishment of one of the region’s largest wine companies which he then was the general manager of for a further 5 years.
Ben brings over 15 years’ wine industry experience to the Winegrapes team. After graduating with a degree in wine marketing in 2010, Ben worked across various wine sales roles in Australia and abroad. As our marketing and communications specialist, Ben is expanding his client base within the business and has a thorough understanding of all aspects of viticulture and winemaking. Ben also holds a degree in information technology and provides a wealth of support to growers on all aspects of our digital reporting database.
